Scot Sanborn
Owner & DistilleR
Scot founded Sutler’s Spirit Co. in 2012 after many years of learning the fermentation and distilling process. A graduate of The Citadel, Scot worked in commercial photography for over 20 years. It was during this time that he began home distilling as a hobby, before developing the skill needed to open Winston Salem’s first legal distillery in over 200 years. Raised in Florida, he has lived in Charleston, South Africa and Germany, but calls North Carolina home. He enjoys spending time with his daughter and traveling internationally. Scot has a passion for the world of alcoholic beverages and would love to see North Carolina become known for its locally made spirits.
Dave McClure
HEAD DISTILLER
Dave is our head distiller. His background includes 22 years of experience as a professional brewer and he has been awarded several regional, national, and international medals for a variety of styles of beer. One of Dave’s proudest achievements is being crowned the 2017 Creekside Bowling Alley Wednesday night champion.
MARK WEDDLE
GIN DISTILLER/NC SALES & EVENTS
Mark joined Sutler’s in 2018 in the role of production manager and quickly adapted to the position. He has since added distilling, sales, and event coordinator to his list of responsibilities. He brings over 30 years of restaurant and hospitality experience to us, a well as a passion for cocktail culture and spirits. His larger than life sense of humor and personality are what makes him an unforgettable member of our family.
KENDRA ZOMOK
PLANT BASED ACCOUNTING & ADMIN
Kendra joined Sutler's Spirit Co. in May 2018 after moving from Pennsylvania with her husband. She is a 2016 graduate of Penn State University and currently oversees staff activities and bottling operations, while assisting with the various administrative duties of the distillery. In her spare time, Kendra enjoys cooking, being outdoors, and spending time with her husband and two small children.
Randy Fuqua
GIN DISTILLER/OPERATIONS MANAGER
Randy comes to us from Kentucky with a diverse background ranging from dairy milk production to newspaper publisher, as well as 10 years of experience with Red Oak Brewery. Prior to joining the Sutler’s team in 2018, he hiked the entire Appalachian trail. Randy currently helps to distill our gin and manages the operations of the distillery.
JOE NICOL
Brand Advisor/SC, VA, TN Sales & Events
Joe is a 15 year veteran of the food and beverage industry and has held every position from young sous chef to general manager. Over the past few years he has been more focused on cocktails and spirits, receiving multiple certificates in spirits knowledge including the highly coveted CSS. In 2018, he was awarded NC mixologist of the year by the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging association. Joe is a strong leader in our marketing and sales department.
